The Title I program at Harry S Truman Elementary School is a federally-funded program
designed to help students improve in reading. Title I services are offered to students in
kindergarten through 5th grade.

The Title I staff consists of:

  • Mrs. Cathy Rae, Reading Specialist
  • Mrs. Patty Jacoby, Instructional Assistant
  • Mrs. Lynn Jacoby, Instructional Assistant

We support student learning by working with students in small group settings aimed
at meeting the individual needs of our learners.
We also work within the classroom to support our students during regular instruction.

Our program offers the following:

    • The program is available to students in grades K through 5 who qualify.
    • Students receive additional instruction 4 to 5 days per week.
    • Materials used are from the classroom reading program, Storytown.

Daily small group instruction focuses on:

      • Phonological Awareness
      • Phonics
      • Vocabulary
      • Fluency
      • Comprehension Strategies
      • Self-Monitoring and Fix-up Strategies
      • Grammar and Writing
      • Finding good books at the right level and loving them!
